Breeches Buoy Addiction Medicine Service is a team of professionals who are dedicated to bringing addiction medicine expertise to affected members of our community, regardless of insurance status.
Our team designs a clinical treatment plan specific to the clinical and psychosocial needs of each patient. We then support patients following the first visit and empower each person to choose a treatment plan , just as would be afforded with any other medical condition.
It is our mission to send a Breeches Buoy containing lifesaving treatment options to patients and families in circumstances when expert clinical care is necessary, and lives might be lost if it doesn’t arrive quickly.
We send a Breeches Buoy to each person to assist with the things patients can’t do for themselves. Pulling patients toward safety in this way makes it possible for them to do the things they can do for themselves. Our team of experts knows where the “can’t do it” stops and the “can do it” starts for patients. Patients and families without training and expertise are often most lost when knowing what to do for themselves or those they love, and we are here to help.
We believe in science and the dignity in the process of recovery from addiction. We know that human beings respond well to seeing a doctor when they are sick, but are much more complex than science understands. We also know patients benefit from access to services that improve emotional and spiritual health, so that maintaining recovery after it takes hold is more likely. We know that with long term clinical, emotional, and spiritual support patients can and do stay well, regardless of disease severity or chronicity.
The “how we do it” is by believing in the things that do work to treat addiction until the patient is well enough to experience healing themselves.
